By accessing or using SurgAtlas ("the Platform", "we", "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform. These terms apply to all users of SurgAtlas, including visitors, registered users, and contributors.

2. Description of Service

SurgAtlas is a free surgical education platform designed to assist medical professionals and students preparing for surgical examinations, including the MRCS Part B. The Platform provides structured surgical notes, AI-powered OSCE practice tools, MCQ self-testing, and related educational content.

SurgAtlas is currently provided free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future, in which case users will be notified in advance.

3. Medical Disclaimer

Important: SurgAtlas is an educational tool intended solely for examination preparation purposes. The content on this Platform — including AI-generated responses, clinical notes, and case scenarios — is not medical advice and must not be used to guide real clinical decisions.

AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies. Always verify clinical information against authoritative sources (peer-reviewed literature, NICE guidelines, Royal College publications) before applying it in any clinical context. SurgAtlas accepts no liability for clinical decisions made based on content found on this Platform.

4. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must register for an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when registering. You may not impersonate another person or use a false identity. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or its infrastructure
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute content from the Platform without prior written permission
• Use AI tools on the Platform to generate content intended to deceive, harm, or defraud others
• Share your account credentials with third parties
• Use automated scripts or bots to access the Platform

6. Intellectual Property

All content on SurgAtlas — including text, diagrams, images, and educational materials — is the intellectual property of SurgAtlas or its contributors and is protected by copyright law. You may use content for personal, non-commercial study purposes only. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Platform content without explicit written permission.

7. AI-Powered Features

SurgAtlas uses third-party AI services (including Anthropic's Claude) to power interactive features including patient simulations, coaching tools, and quiz generation. AI responses are generated dynamically and may not always be accurate, complete, or up to date. We do not sell conversation data to third parties.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SurgAtlas and its creator(s) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform. The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
