Including the page URL, the exact statement and the source supporting the concern helps the issue be assessed efficiently.
2. How reports are prioritised
- Highest priority: safety-critical errors that could materially misstate emergency management, drug use, escalation, contraindications or major clinical thresholds.
- High priority: incorrect anatomy, classifications, guideline recommendations or examination-relevant facts that could mislead a learner.
- Routine priority: wording ambiguity, formatting problems, broken links, minor terminology issues and non-clinical presentation defects.
3. Assessment before correction
A correction should be checked against the underlying SurgAtlas source material and, where the issue is time-sensitive, the relevant contemporary external authority. A user report is treated as a reason to investigate rather than as proof that the published statement is wrong.
When evidence is uncertain or guidance differs between bodies, the correction should preserve that uncertainty instead of replacing one oversimplification with another.
4. What happens when an error is confirmed
- The affected public lesson or product copy is corrected at source.
- A substantive medical correction changes the visible update date on the lesson.
- Related internal lessons are checked when the same factual statement may have been reused elsewhere.
- Search metadata and structured data are updated when the corrected fact affects the title, description or topic framing.
- Major clinical corrections should not be hidden behind cosmetic wording changes.
5. Minor edits
Spelling, punctuation, layout, accessibility and other non-substantive presentation changes may be corrected without treating the page as medically revised. The update date is intended to signal meaningful content maintenance rather than routine visual polish.
6. Correction history and transparency
As the public library grows, SurgAtlas may add a visible correction log for major changes that materially alter clinical teaching. Until then, the page update date, references and this corrections policy provide the minimum transparency standard.
SurgAtlas does not promise that a page can never contain an error. The editorial commitment is to make reporting easy, investigate responsibly and correct confirmed problems promptly and transparently.
